Book Two — Outside the Circle

Book Two opened with a ceremony. The guides stepped outside the circle — like parents at Platform 9¾ watching their children board the train — and the eagles took the helm of their own school in a way few young people anywhere are ever trusted to do.

It was a year of raised bars: a whole-school contract four years in the making, new minimum standards for screens, sleep, and exercise, and a tribe that voted — 90% — to do something genuinely hard in order to earn their final showdown.

But a true story does not skip the hard chapters. The freedom the eagles carried was real, which means the stakes were real, and this book held some of the hardest lessons in the school's history. It closed after a single year, with our founder stepping back from the head of school role and the whole community learning what every hero learns at the threshold: the journey costs something.

Book Two is short. It is also one of the most important books on this shelf.
